| Wow...I haven't blogged for about 1 year. I had a friend recently ask why I don't have a blog...that tells me I haven't posted in a while. No guarantee that my entries will be any more frequent, but here's some new info. - Family website. Check it out here. I've created it using the free page creator on Google and I LOVE IT! My wife can update content, it's all web based and does what I need it to do. This will be the location where we document our trip to India hopefully coming up in late July to adopt our daughter Samantha. Check out her page on our website.
- We're moving. Gas is killing me driving to Junction City every day from Topeka. Where are we moving? I'm not quite sure, but the next bullet may shed some light on that one...
- I have an interview with the Wichita-based company Invista on Friday for an Instruction Design position. This would be an incredible opportunity for a great job with a company that would offer nearly unlimited growth potential. I'll just come out and say it: I really want this job! I've been through two phone interviews and my interview Friday is on site with four different people and is scheduled to last a little more than three hours. Please pray for me as I prepare and interview for this position. I'll try to post here regarding how things go.
That's all for now...I AM OUT! | | |

| In response to my friend's blog, I offer the following: Favorite team when you were growing up: Dallas Cowboys Favorite team now (if different from above): Dallas Cowboys Favorite player no longer in the league: #33 "TD" Tony Dorsett Favorite current player: Brett Favre Least favorite player no longer in the league: Derrick Thomas because KC sports talk won't quit talking about him making it into the HOF. It has been the lead topic for the last 10 days...I'm sick of it. And this is the 3rd year in a row...give it a rest! Face it, Chiefs Nation, it's not going to happen. Least favorite current player: Brett Farve Most memorable game watched: Superbowl 27: Dallas 52 Buffalo 17. I recorded that game and still watch it. What to remember from the game? Leon Lett's fumble Ever been to an actual NFL game in person (yes/no): No, but Dallas plays at KC in 2008 I believe... Which do you prefer, Monday Night Football on ABC or ESPN: ABC all the way, but I do like Sunday Night Football on NBC | | |
| 21-Year Coma Yeah, I just wanted to call in and talk about an undefeated team that’s really got my attention: The Chicago Bears. Ditka’s bunch has looked pretty good this year, already handling division foes Tampa Bay and Minnesota and it looks like they’re gearing up for another division win this week against Lynn Dickey’s Green Bay Packers. The Bears seem to do everything right and here’s a few reasons why: 1. Defense: Last week they held the 49ers to 67 yards rushing and forced them to punt 7 times. With a line like that, the offence can afford to take some chances. 2. Jim McMahon: In the first 6 games, the Bears have passed for 1492 yards. True, McMahon’s also thrown 8 pics, but you’ve got to figure that comes with the territory when you’re putting the ball in the air that much. 3. The Ditka Factor: Mighty Mike, now in his 4th year with the Bears, brings a consistency and a “tough as nails” attitude that is needed to keep these guys focused on the only thing that matters….winning week in and week out. Where does it stop for the former Decatur Staleys? These monsters of the midway continue to systematically disassemble every opponent they face. Right now, having 6 games under their collective belts, I don’t really see any team on the rest of their schedule that can stop them. Yeah, I know there are a lot of games left to play and no one likes to talk about matching the hallowed 72 Dolphins, but I bet if you put Ditka’s Bears on the same field with Shula’s Fish, those Bears would have one heck of a seafood dinner. | 36-Year Coma I know a lot of people have been calling in about the Jets/Browns game this week, but frankly, I could care less about the game. What’s got me upset is the fact that they played the game on Monday night…MONDAY NIGHT! What in the world is Pete Rozelle doing scheduling games on days other than Sunday? I know he’s a pretty progressive commissioner, but this time I think he’s setting himself up for failure…and I’ll give you a few reasons why: 1. You just don’t schedule shows against Gunsmoke. CBS has had Marshall Dillon and the gang on Monday nights for 3 years and everyone watches it. This by itself is a death wish. 2. Of all the networks to take on football on Monday nights, Rozelle strikes a deal with ABC. You don’t choose the lowest rated network to show your games. No one tunes into ABC to begin with. Weeknight football won’t change that. 3. Sticking Howard Cosell in front of viewers on a weekly basis borders on offensive. This former lawyer is an ugly, loud-mouthed kook that will drive viewers away in droves. This show has “cancel me” written all over it! I can’t wait until ABC pulls the plug on this abomination of a show. Maybe they’ll move Bewitched back to Monday nights where it’s been the last two years. I like football as much as the next guy, but keep it on the weekends where it belongs. I AM OUT! | | |
